Winsford & Middlewich Koshido-Ryu acknowledge with great sadness the passing of it’s founder Sensei Dave Warburton 8th Dan September 24th 2011. ‘Sensei Dave you fought in true style against your illness for the last seven years & we have enjoyed spending the last few months with you & your family during this difficult period’ Dianne, Shelly & Leanne your family love & spirit is truly inspiring as Dave was to so many people both in & out if the DoJo. Our thoughts are with you now at this very sad time. Sensei Dave you will remain an inspiration to us all, your standards & expertise will always be remembered & respected – Thank you. Your legacy lives on….. RIP

SKU Kumite & Kata Championships
Again we showed fabulous form at the championships, a massive entry from all Koshido Ryu Clubs coming away with over 30 medals for kumitie & kata! A huge congratulations to all who took part, especially if this was your first competition. Keep up the good work ready for the October open!

Premier Kata Championships
WINSFORD and Middlewich Koshido-Ryu Karate Club is celebrating success at a national competition. The mid Cheshire-based group won one gold, five silver and as many bronze medals during the Shukokai Karate Union (SKU) Premier Kata Championship, held in Warrington. Senior instructor Emily Simpson, a winner in the adult category, said: “We’re proud of everybody who represented the club.” It is the first time she and fellow instructor Kathryn King had overseen the club’s students in competition since Sensei Dave Warburton retired at the end of last year. Each student performed katas, a set combination of karate techniques, in front of a panel of judges within their grade and age divisions. Individual results: Gold: Emily Simpson, aged 30. Silver: Tamzin Bradley, aged seven; Ben Goodwin, nine; Anthony Robson, 13; Emily Simpson, 30; Josh Smith, ten; Bronze: Harriet Bailes, ten; Neha Kasaravalli, 12. Pairs results: Bronze: Hannah Phillips, 13, and Ellie King, 15; Anthony Robson, 13 and Mollie Bailes, 13; Emily Simpson and Kathryn King. The club meets every Tuesday at Woodford Lodge High School and Thursday at Winsford Lifestyle Centre. Children train from 6pm, while adults meet an hour later.
